The Ten Commandments of Visual Basic

  1. Thou Shalt use Option Strict Always. For VB is a real programming language with more than one data type

  2. Thou Shalt Not concatenate SQL and use SQL Parameters

  3. Keep holy the use of Explicit Form Instances

  4. Honor thy Try and thy Catch by not using empty Catch blocks

  5. Thou shalt not use DoEvents, nor End

  6. Thou shalt not use Val, for there are many data types and Double is just one

  7. Thou shalt upvote answers which enlighten and help thou

  8. Thou shalt not call it Visual BasicS for it is not the basics of anything (and only basic depending on thine own skills)

  9. Thou shalt not covet to format a date, for a date is stored as a value and has no format

  10. Though shalt bookmark MSDN and beware of the False Prophets of YouTube

My internal estimate for when was off by 8h 45m.

This means that there are no additional quality related badges I can reasonably hope to earn (thanks, Chris!). Its all pure charity from here on out.

I do not and will not do Chat, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, IMs, PMs or IRC.
