My son is taking pictures of orion nebula and andromeda galaxy with his cell phone from his telescope, but wants to see if someone can help him edit them. He has stacked the photos on deepskystacker and edited it in adobe, but he said they aren't good, and thinks he's doing something wrong. Can anyone help him out? Please? He wants to know if his pictures just aren't clear enough or if he's editing something wrong.

$\begingroup$ Hi SSmith3, it's not unlikely that someone here could help, but you should provide as much detail as possible: What exactly isn't good? What does "not clear enough" mean? Are point sources (i.e. stars) blurry or smeared out in a particular direction? Which steps did your son go through in order to stack the images? Most importantly, can you upload some examples of the results? Cheers, Peter. $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ It sounds like he's on the right track: stacking and then adjusting levels should give decent results. Please post two images: the result of stacking in DSS and the result of editing in Photoshop. Also check out the beginner's imaging forum at CN. $\endgroup$
