Comet 1P/Halley is identified as the source of the Eta Aquarids and the Orionids; Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle is the source of the Perseids; and Comet Thatcher is the source of the Lyrids. I suppose that comets more often than asteroids produce meteors.

just switched to the correct name used for the progenitor bodies that cause meteors, i.e. meteoroids.
